Dixon brings three decades of in-depth experience in commercial real estate development to his role as founder of Black Oak Associates. Since inception in 1991, Dixon has led Black Oak through the acquisition, redevelopment and new construction of projects in the Black Oak portfolio.
Dixon is co-founder of the Environmental Banc and Exchange (EBX), a national leader in ecosystem restoration. He is also a founding partner of the Sustainable Land Fund, which is working to bring private capital to conservation and ecosystem restoration on a landscape scale.
Prior to founding Black Oak, Dixon had a wide ranging commercial real estate and development career. He served as a Development Director for Riparius Development Corporation, was a Vice President for Local Projects at The Enterprise Development Company, an international retail development company headed by James W. Rouse, and also worked on redevelopment projects on Baltimore’s Westside.
Dixon serves on the boards of Friends of the Family, Preservation Maryland, the Garrison Forest School, Episcopal Ministries to the Aging (EMA), and the regional advisory board of Branch Banking and Trust (BB&T). He is a member of the Congress for New Urbanism, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the Urban Land Institute.
Dixon holds an M.B.A., with a finance concentration, from Loyola College and a BA from the University of Vermont.
